Introduction
The Calgary Tower is a free-standing observation tower located in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It stands at a height of 190.8 meters (626 feet). Originally known as the Husky Tower, it was a joint venture between Marathon Realty Company and Husky Oil Company. It was part of a city revitalization plan and celebrated Canada's centennial in 1967. The tower weighs 10,884 tons and cost $3.5 million, with 60% of it being underground. It opened to the public on June 30, 1968, and is the tallest building in Calgary, as well as the second tallest in Canada after Toronto. In 1971, the tower was renamed the Calgary Tower and became one of the founding members of the World Federation of Great Towers. Address 101 9th Avenue SW, Calgary, AB T2P 1J9
