Introduction

Lahore National Museum is one of the largest and most richly stocked museums in Pakistan, exhibiting collections across 17 series, covering multiple fields such as fine arts, paintings, Buddhist sculptures, weapons, folk traditions, biology, coins, and more. The museum also has a treasure trove, which collects unearthed relics from the prehistoric stone age 500,000 years ago to the Mohenjo-Daro and Gandhara periods, including delicate miniature paintings, coins from various historical periods, and valuable artifacts from Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist beliefs. The museum has many treasures, such as a terracotta cart from 4,000 years ago, thousands of Buddhist sculptures from the Gandhara period, stone-carved human figures from the heyday of Buddhism in the first few centuries AD, Islamic architecture decoration, the oldest Quran, carpets used by the Mughal emperors, ivory-carved Buddha statues and porcelain bottles inscribed with Chinese characters as symbols of ancient interactions in Pakistan, as well as paintings, weapons, and coins from various dynasties. Among them, Buddhist artifacts have especially rich and exquisite collections, which are among the best in the world.
