Introduction
Wenjin Academy, also known as the Temple of Confucius, is a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit in Hubei Province, China. It is located on the banks of the Kongzi River in JiuJie, XinZhou District, Wuhan, a famous historical and cultural city. It is named after the anecdote in The Analects of Confucius, where Confucius sent Zilu to inquire about the ford at Changyu and ran into Changju and Jieni. The academy was first built during the Western Han Dynasty and has a history of over two thousand years. It is the cradle of literati in the Eastern Hubei region during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties and is referred to as the oldest "university" in China. It was once on par with other famous academies such as Yue Lu Academy, Donglin Academy, and Bailu Dong Academy, and produced a total of 387 Jinshi (highest imperial examination degree) from the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty.
