Introduction
The Thousand Buddha Pagoda in Meizhou, located in the southwest of Meixian District, is one of the important historical and cultural heritages of Meizhou and one of the most famous attractions in the city. Built in the mid-Yuan Dynasty, the pagoda now standing was built in the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 600 years. It is 43.3 meters high with a total of seven floors and is one of the tallest existing ancient buildings in southern China during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, as well as one of the representative works of ancient tower-style architecture in southern China. The architecture of the Thousand Buddha Pagoda is grand and has internal stairs for tourists to climb to the top to overlook the surrounding scenic views. The tower body and the tower spire are carved with countless exquisite statues of Buddha, Lingzhi mushrooms, and cranes, which are of great viewing value and are also one of the precious Buddhist statues in southern China. The surrounding area of Thousand Buddha Pagoda has a strong historical and cultural atmosphere and is an important part of traditional southern Chinese culture. Under the pagoda, there are five hundred arhats and a Mahavira Hall for believers to worship and pray, and it participates in incense festivals. When visiting the Thousand Buddha Pagoda, tourists can also go to nearby scenic areas such as Longhu Park and Huangpi Valley to experience nature and appreciate culture.
