Introduction

The Mengshan Big Buddha, also known as the Xishan Big Buddha, is a cliff-side statue located behind the Kaihua Temple on Mengshan. In the late Yuan Dynasty, the Mengshan Big Buddha was destroyed. It wasn't until 1980 that the Big Buddha was rediscovered, but the head of the Buddha was no longer there, and the body was buried in the rocks and soil, suffering from significant weathering damage. The bottom of the Big Buddha's legs to its neck is about 30 meters high, originally reaching a height of about 46 meters. The current head of the Big Buddha has been newly carved by later generations.
