Introduction

Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture is a beautiful region in southwestern China, and the Shuimo Ancient Town within it is a rare gem. Located in the southern part of Jiuzhaigou County in Aba Prefecture, the Shuimo Ancient Town was built in the Tang Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,300 years. It is inhabited by Qiang, Han, and Tibetan people, and is an important representative of the ethnic cultures in western China. One of the famous attractions in Shuimo Ancient Town is the Ziku Tower, which is one of the few intact Tibetan-style buildings in China. Ziku Tower, also known as Jingfan Tower or Lama Tower, is one of the Buddhist instruments in Tibetan Buddhism temples, meaning "the place where Tibetan words are stored". In Shuimo Ancient Town, this temple tower is 33 meters high and is made up of black wooden structures, painted lines, and a unique nine-column, twelve-corner form, exuding a sense of antiquity. To admire this tower, visitors can climb the stairs to the top floor. Every window on the way will leave people lingering. Looking out from the window, the beautiful scenery is all in sight, allowing tourists to fully experience the joy of travel. Climbing to the top of the tower, the golden roof of the temple, the white walls, black tiles, and the surrounding mountains complement each other, forming a picturesque scenery of "emerald peaks surrounded by overhanging eaves". In addition to Ziku Tower, there are other famous attractions in Shuimo Ancient Town, such as Geyue Bridge, Paper Cutting House, and Laobazi Village. Geyue Bridge is an ancient stone arch bridge in the town, which is said to have been built during the Tang Dynasty. It spans over the Wolong River, a transportation route connecting the two sides of the ancient town. The Paper Cutting House is a place to show the traditional handmade art of paper cutting in Shuimo, where paper cutting artists use knives to create various patterns on thin paper with beautiful meanings and symbolic significance. Laobazi Village is a rustic farmhouse where visitors can experience authentic Tujia cuisine. In summary, Shuimo Ancient Town has a deep cultural heritage and beautiful scenery, making it a perfect combination of culture and tourism. The summer in Shuimo is pleasant, with shady trees and surrounded by green mountains, while in autumn, the fragrance of rice flowers fills the air and the golden and red leaves create the most beautiful scenery. In late October every year, it is also a good time for various Qiang villages to hold the Harvest Festival, which is lively and passionate. Whenever you come, Shuimo will always bring you unexpected surprises.
