Introduction

Chongshan Temple, located on Dilian Gong Street, Yingze District, Taiyuan City, was established in the Tang Dynasty. It was initially called Baima Temple, and was later renamed Yanshou Temple and Zongshan Temple. It was renamed Chongshan Temple in the Ming Dynasty. In the 14th year of the Hongwu era (1381), Zhu Yuanzhang's third son, Prince Jinkong, Zhu Kuo, expanded the temple. Before the Ming Dynasty, Chongshan Temple was only a small temple. Legend has it that it was the palace of Emperor Yangdi of the Sui Dynasty when he visited Taiyuan, or the place where Empress Wu Zetian became a nun when she was young. The inscription "Zong Tang Site" on the right side of the main gate may come from these legends. The original meaning of the article remains unchanged and no further content will be added.
