Introduction

Wolong Bridge is a historic stone bridge with a total length of 31.46 meters, a width of 5 meters, and a height of 5.5 meters, making it the tallest bridge in Xitang. Despite its simple appearance, Wolong Bridge is magnificent. Its bridge deck is made entirely of a huge stone slab with an east-to-west dragon pattern that is still clearly visible. In addition, there is a couplet carved on the bridge deck, which reads: "A rugged road that has been built for hundreds of years, creating a bridge that millions of people pass through." The source of this couplet is a widely circulated legend. It is said that Wolong Bridge was originally a simple wooden bridge that was in disrepair over time. One day, a bamboo craftsman named Zhu witnessed a pregnant woman falling into the water and dying at the bridge, and he decided to rebuild the bridge, but he did not have enough funds. So he shaved his head and become a monk named Guangyuan. He roamed around for ten years and finally raised three thousand two hundred ounces of silver, and began to build a new bridge. However, the construction still needed more stone. Shortly afterwards, Guangyuan died of old age and illness, causing the project to stall. Just when everyone was in great panic, suddenly two immortals came to Xitang. They came to the vicinity of Wolong Bridge after hearing the news, tasted the local dried tofu, and were very satisfied. They were intoxicated by the deliciousness of the dried tofu, and a piece of dried tofu that fell off happened to fall on the unfinished bridge deck of Wolong Bridge, arousing people's curiosity. This piece of dried tofu has maintained its original shape and formed a whole platform on the bridge deck. Therefore, the bridge deck of Wolong Bridge is very special.
