If it weren't for famous movies like "Lust, Caution" and "Ip Man" being filmed here, the Xinchang Ancient Town might still remain hidden in the depths of the city. The residential houses here are mostly buildings from the late Qing dynasty and early Republic of China, many of which are typical fusion of Chinese and Western styles.

Located in Pujiang Town, Minhang District, Zhaolou Ancient Town (inside Genxin Village of Pujiang Town) originated in the early Yuan Dynasty and spanned three dynasties: Yuan, Ming, and Qing. With an area of 150 mu, it houses many Qing Dynasty buildings. The larger and better-preserved ones include "Ligeng Hall" and "Mei Garden". The "Three Treasures of Zhaolou" include Zhaolou Daqu (a type of fermented alcoholic beverage), Zhaolou mutton, and Zhaolou braised pig trotters (hand-torn and braised trotters in soy sauce).
