Introduction
The old house where Mao Dun once lived is located in the Jiangnan region and is a Qing Dynasty residential building. The former residence was built in the mid-19th century and was Mao Dun's residence from childhood to when he left home to study for a total of 13 years. For decades thereafter, Mao Dun remained in contact with his former residence. The former residence includes two buildings, the front building being a three-room bungalow with a bedroom, study, and reception room, which was personally designed and refurbished by Mao Dun. Next to the study is a small garden where Mao Dun planted his own cultivated bamboo and palms.
