Introduction

The Octagonal Fort scenic area is located in the south of the Mount Long Scenic Area. It is named after the main peak of the mountain, which is flat and lifts up like eight upward-pointing horns. It is a Danxia Fangshan area with a total area of about 7.17 square kilometers and an altitude of 818 meters, which is the highest and most beautiful scenic spot in the Mount Long scenic area. The scenic area has cliffs on three sides, only a winding path leading to the top of the mountain on the southeast. Standing at the top of the mountain and overlooking the west, the peaks towering, high and low scattered, and valleys criss-cross. The top of the peak is covered with original shrubs and the cliff presents the red color of Danxia stone, while the valley is shaded by green trees. On a clear day, the blue sky, white clouds, green forests, and red walls form a magnificent natural picture; when clouds and mist surround the mountains, the peaks are sometimes visible and sometimes hidden, like thousands of whales playing in the ocean. In addition, there is an ancient temple on the mountaintop, Yun Tai Temple, which was built in the Southern Song Dynasty and has been preserved for thousands of years with its historical appearance.
