The Xianren Ancient Well is a famous scenic spot in Huangyao Ancient Town, where the spring water in the well gushes out all year round and remains unchanged. According to legend, the water taken out of the well on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month can be stored for three years without rotting and can prevent diseases. Although it is just a legend, experts have found that the well water contains a variety of trace elements, which can improve one's health if consumed regularly. The most unique feature of the Xianren Ancient Well is that it is not a circular spring, but a group of rectangular pools connected to each other. These pools are used for drinking, washing vegetables, and doing laundry, and the water eventually flows into the river. Many people enjoy tasting the sweet and refreshing spring water by the well, especially during the hot summer days. Women often gather around the well to chat while doing laundry, creating a unique scenery. This custom has been passed down for centuries and has become a tradition of the ancient town.
