Introduction

Huangyao is an ancient town with a history of over a thousand years, originating from the Song Dynasty. At that time, there were many people with the surnames Huang and Yao in the town, which is how it got its name "Huangyao." Like many other towns in the south of the Yangtze River, the town has beautiful small bridges, flowing water, and traditional houses. The houses are adorned with exquisite and outstanding eaves murals and poetry-and-picture walls. In the summer, you might want to visit the Agricultural Interest Garden, which is a must-visit place to appreciate lotus flowers. The garden displays restored ancient workshops for making tofu, fermented beans, and pressing oil.
