Introduction
In December 1936, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China established the Southern Area Cooperative Society in Guomen, Yan'an, which was later moved to Liulin Village in May 1938. The Southern Area Cooperative Society made positive contributions to promoting the economy of the border region and improving the lives of local residents. Today, Liulin Village still preserves the 16-hole stone cave of the Southern Area Cooperative Society and a two-story brick and wood structure with five open bays. The lower two sides of the brick column of the building are inscribed with "Development of Economic Cooperation is Necessary" and "Enhancing Democracy and Working with Agriculture and Industry," and the middle plaque reads "The Southern Area Cooperative Society of Yan'an County."
