Introduction

The ginkgo tree behind the hall, which is said to have been planted during the Sui and Tang dynasties, is known as "China's second ginkgo tree" and "a living fossil of a thousand years." During the Western Jin Dynasty, Baota Temple was named after the founder, Master Xinxing, who was buried near the temple after his death. In the Sui and Tang dynasties, it was the ancestral temple of the Buddhist Triple Gem.
