Introduction
Minghu National Wetland Park in the western part of the central city of Liupanshui is connected to natural mountains with crystal-clear lake water. Visitors can stroll along the 1.13-kilometer Rainbow Bridge, which is like walking on a dancing ribbon. The park covers a total area of 197.7 hectares, including five wetland groups: Longgui Reservoir, Yaoshang Reservoir, the source section of Shuicheng River, Minghu Village Wetland, and Minghu Xiaoshanxia. The area of artificial pond wetlands and river wetlands amounts to 84.65 hectares, and the wetland rate is 42.8%.
Minghu National Wetland Park is also home to many wild plants and animals. Visitors can enjoy 259 species of microflora and seed plants in 98 genera. Meanwhile, they can see a total of 151 wild vertebrates, including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals, among which there are 11 national second-level protected animals, such as the Guizhou warty newt, the white-bellied pheasant, the common buzzard, and the red falcon.
Once a place with scattered fishponds and dilapidated houses, it now has a lake surface as clear as a mirror and a winding and beautiful steel cable-stayed bridge. Besides admiring the scenery, visitors can wander along the boardwalk, appreciate the beauty of various plants, and feel the ecological pleasure brought by the flying birds and waterfowl on the water. The whole wetland park complements the natural ecology and gives people a feeling of comfort and ease.
