Introduction

Located in the western part of Najin Town, Enping, Guangdong, Shitou Village was originally named Yunli Village and is renowned for its unique stone ancient architecture. The houses, roads, pond foundations, walls, vegetable gardens, and more in the village are all built of stone, with exquisite workmanship and unique features, becoming a characteristic scenic spot in Enping City. All residents in the village are surnamed Li, according to the 74-year-old Li Wengui, who said that the Li surname originated in the north and moved to Guangdong through Zhujixiang in Nanxiong. The founder of Shitou Village, Li Siwen, was the eighth-generation Li surname immigrant. He passed the imperial examination when he was young and was later sent to work in the present-day Yangjiang area. After retiring, he chose to enjoy his retirement here during the chaotic war in the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty. His settlement was luckily due to an experience of being washed into the river, and he believed it was the arrangement of fate. Thus, he began his life here and founded the village.
