Introduction
Currently, there are still 22 preserved and intact arcade streets in Wuzhou Arcade City, with a total length of 7 kilometers and the longest street reaching 2530 meters. The city boasts 560 arcade buildings, which is a remarkable scale and a rarity in China. These arcade buildings are mainly located on streets such as Daeast Shang Road, Daeast Xia Road, Sha Street, Danan Road, Xiaonan Road, Sifang Road, Wufang Road, Jiu Fang Road, Nanhuang Road, Dazhong Road, Guilin Road, Guibei Road, Beihuang Road, Democracy Road, Jianshe Road, and Zhongshan Road.
This continuous stretch of arcades was once a symbol of Wuzhou's past prosperity. The shops on the arcade streets were flourishing, and at the peak, there were more than 1500 businesses, bringing huge wealth to tens of thousands of wealthy merchants. The classic buildings inside Wuzhou Arcade City, such as the old site of Wuzhou Customs, the old site of Sida Public Hospital, Datong Hotel, New West Hotel, Da Dong Restaurant, and Yue Xi Building, have been paid great attention to, while Ma Wang Street and Jin Long Lane are the streets with the richest historical and cultural heritage. The center of the arcade city is the section from the arcade city archway to the central courtyard plaza, where the statues of historical figures from Wuzhou, such as Zhao Guang and Mou Zi, are displayed. In addition, there is a 1.4-kilometer-long Wuzhou historical and cultural corridor on the inner wall of the flood control dike from New West Hotel to Longmu Temple. If tourists spend a day here, they can easily experience over two thousand years of Wuzhou's history.
