Introduction

Gaoqian ancient houses are surrounded by mountains and rivers, with white walls and gray tiles reflecting flowing water and green leaves. This understated village was built in the Yuan Dynasty, and most of the preserved buildings are from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are 11 ancient houses that have been fully preserved. The layout of these houses is courtyard style, which is rarely seen nowadays. With exquisite brick and wood carvings, stepping into them feels like traveling back to a quiet afternoon in the past. Most of the residents in the village are surnamed Wu, and they are mostly elderly people and children. Actually, there is no need to have a specific purpose. Just take a look at the old houses or savor the tranquility and leisure here is already enough.
