Introduction

The group sculpture "Eight Women Throwing Themselves into the River" is located in the Jiangbin Park on the banks of the Mudanjiang River. The sculpture was completed in 1988 and is 13 meters high and 8.8 meters long, made of granite. The four characters "Eight Women Throwing Themselves into the River" were written by Deng Yingchao, the former Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. The sculpture commemorates the heroic battle of the eight women who sacrificed themselves in 1938. It was designated as a second-level cultural relic in 1984.
