Da Zhao Temple, A Sanctuary of Tibetan Buddhism and Art

Da Zhaoqian Street, Yuquan District, Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
Magnificent Tibetan Buddhist temple

Introduction

This temple belongs to the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism, which is also known as the Yellow Sect. It is one of the earliest constructed monasteries for Lamaism in Hohhot, with a similar architectural style to Chinese temples, including a mountain gate, a hall of heavenly kings, a Buddha hall, and other main buildings. The sutra hall is connected to the Buddha hall, forming the "great hall". Here, you can appreciate the exquisite "three treasures" such as the silver Buddha, dragon carvings, and murals. Especially the "Sakyamuni statue" made of 30,000 tael of pure silver is an absolute must-see. When visiting, simply enter from the mountain gate and follow the central axis to easily tour the entire temple.
