Introduction
The Qing Dynasty examination shed located on Xuedao Street in the city was originally composed of a mountain gate, corridor, examination room, main hall, second hall, rear hall, and examinee's lodging. After the reconstruction during the Jiajing period of the Qing Dynasty, it has remained relatively intact over the years and is one of the few remaining examination sheds in the country.
Today, the examination shed still retains its scroll-style corridor, which is over 50 meters long, with flying fairy chairs hung on the wooden handrails on both sides. The left and right rows of examination rooms are independent of each other and are decorated with exquisite carvings. The front yard is the examination room, and the rear yard has a dining hall with number rooms surrounding it.
During the examination period, the examinees are numbered according to the order of heaven, earth, profound, and yellow, and each number room is equipped with a small door for entry and exit. The main hall opposite the main entrance is a multi-level hall, where examiners call out names, issue papers, and supervise the examination.
Today, the Gongyuan arranges an imperial examination every day at 8:30 am and 3:00 pm, and anyone can pay around 20 yuan to participate and experience what it feels like to be a test-taker. Address 12 Xuedao Street, Langzhong City, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province
