Introduction

Paoma Mountain Scenic Area is located in the south of Kangding city, with an altitude of about 2700 meters. The local Tibetans call Paoma Mountain "Lam ze", which means "Fairy Mountain". It is one of the famous sacred mountains of the Tibetans and provides a panoramic view of Kangding. To commemorate the birth of Buddha Shakyamuni (Bathing Buddha) on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month, the local people hold grand commemorative activities here every year, known as the "April 8th" mountain-turning ceremony, which includes horse racing. It is worth mentioning that the mountain-turning ceremony is the only day when Paoma Mountain offers free admission.

Transportation

The scenic area is located near the Kangding County town. It is better to walk there, but taxis are also available. Due to the fact that Paoma Mountain cannot be accessed by roads, it is a bit difficult to climb the mountain and it takes about 2 hours for even physically fit people. However, there is now a cable car (round trip for 30 yuan), which takes only about 15 minutes to reach the mountain top.
