Introduction
During the Northern Zhou Dynasty, the city wall of Zhengding began construction, initially using stone. It wasn't until the fifth year of Longqing (1571) when the magistrate Gu Shou converted the earthen wall to a brick wall. Later, when the wall was repaired or rebuilt, it was done on this foundation. This wall played an important role in preventing floods and military defense. In history, Zhengding County in Shijiazhuang was once known as one of the "Three Northern Hero Towns" along with Beijing and Baoding. The ancient city wall of Zhengding is one of the few remaining remnants of Ming Dynasty city walls in China.
