Introduction

In the eighth year of the Ming Dynasty Hongwu period (1375), the Yucheng Post was built outside the south gate of Gaochao City, which is one of the largest and best-preserved ancient post stations in China. Yucheng is an alias for Gaochao, which comes from the poem by Qin Shaoyou, a poet of the Song Dynasty, "My hometown is like a bowl, located on the Yangtze-Chu Ridge."
