Introduction

The Jin Dian Hall of Taihe Palace is located in the Taoist temple on Mingfeng Mountain (also known as Yingwu Mountain), 7 kilometers northeast of Kunming, Yunnan Province. It is also known as the Golden Tile Temple. The hall was cast in the tenth year of the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty (1671), and it is made entirely of copper with a wood-like structure. The plan is square, with three bays in width and depth, and a double-eave hipped roof. The brackets, beams, coffered ceilings, and exterior eaves are all constructed in the form of wood imitation. The doors, windows, and lattice screens are carved and cast with hollow and relief methods, depicting dragons, phoenixes, flowers, plants, and exquisite patterns. Behind the hall, there is a camellia tree from the Ming Dynasty, which blooms in early spring with fiery red flowers.
