Introduction
In the mouth of a small river at the high end of Xi Men, Jiading, there are 10 ancient ginkgo trees that embrace each other in a group, with an age of about 200 years and a height ranging from 19.3 to 20.4 meters. The thickest tree has a girth of 2.45 meters, and the tree group covers an area of over 600 square meters. In order to protect this rare group of ancient ginkgo trees, the Jiading District government has invested over 7 million yuan to relocate the residents and units around the ancient trees, and built a 5000-square-meter ancient tree park around them. The park is mainly landscaped with plants. As ginkgo trees are most afraid of waterlogging, drought-resistant plants are planted in the surrounding area, and the park is paved with bluestone, allowing the roots of the ancient ginkgo trees to breathe. In the south of the ancient ginkgo tree group, there are curved corridors, flower halls, pavilions, flower pools, and yellowstone rockeries, creating a quiet and elegant classical style. The "Shanghai Tree King" in the park is 1200 years old and ranks as the No. 1 ancient tree in Shanghai. It is a male tree with a height of 24.5 meters, a girth of 6.5 meters, a canopy diameter of 20 meters, and its roots spread over several acres of land.
