Introduction

Located on both sides of the Yellow River, the Hukou Waterfall National Geopark boasts the Hukou Waterfall as its centerpiece and offers varying scenery throughout the year. The park is divided into the Shanxi and Shaanxi sides of the waterfall, with the former only able to be viewed from the side and the latter offering a full view of the entire waterfall. Additionally, there is a live performance of the Yellow River Cantata, which is free and held twice daily at 11 am and 5 pm. The town of Gezhentan near the Shaanxi Hukou Waterfall is the birthplace of the Yellow River Cantata, and the Shaanxi Hukou Waterfall's second waterfall was used as a filming location for the 50 yuan version of the 1990 Chinese currency. Visitors can also choose to take a low-altitude flight to overlook the Yellow River from the perspective of God, with plane tickets costing around 399 yuan per person. The waterfall is particularly breathtaking in the spring and autumn when the water flow is high and the sound of the waterfall is like thunder. Additionally, from April to May, the peach blossom season is in full swing, while rainbows are often visible from September to November, which is known as the "Hukou autumn breeze." Along with the waterfall itself, there are eight wonders that appear at different times, such as smoke rising from underwater, boats sailing on dry land, and neon lights playing in water, all of which are awe-inspiring.
