Introduction

In April 2008, construction began on the Tangshan Earthquake Memorial Park. The park covers an area of 400,000 square meters and has a total investment of 600 million yuan. It is the world's first earthquake memorial park with "remembrance" as its main theme. The park's design concept is to "respect nature, cherish life, explore science, and remember history". It is divided into several areas, including the earthquake site area, the memorial water area, the memorial forest area, and the memorial square. The park has an earthquake museum that showcases the history of the Tangshan earthquake. The museum covers an area of 12,000 square meters and is divided into two sections: a commemorative exhibition hall and a science education exhibition hall. The memorial square and memorial water pool are important places for people to pay their respects to their loved ones and the deceased. The design of the memorial wall for the victims of the Tangshan earthquake is deeply meaningful. It consists of 5 groups of 13 walls, with the names of 240,000 compatriots who died in the 1976 Tangshan earthquake engraved on them. The memorial wall is 7.28 meters high, representing July 28th, and is located 19.76 meters away from the water's edge, representing the year 1976. Behind the memorial wall to the north is a 140,000 square meter memorial forest, which has planted over 30,000 saplings of various kinds to express the meaning of life and remembrance. The park also has a science education exhibition hall, which displays earthquake phenomena and knowledge on disaster prevention and self-rescue, providing an overall understanding of seismology.
