Introduction

Located in the western part of Keshiketeng Banner, the Dali Nur (Lake) Scenic Area is adjacent to the northwest of the Xilingol Grassland Nature Reserve and the eastern part of the Xiaotengger Sandy Land to the south, and bordered by the Xilingol League and Chifeng City to the west. The total area of the scenic area is 119,413.55 hectares, which is a national-level nature reserve about 90 kilometers away from Jingpeng Town. Claimed to be the "Pearl of the Grassland", Dali Nur (Lake) is the second largest inland lake in Inner Mongolia, formerly known as "Fish Oil Lake", "Bifurcate Fish Pond" and "Daer Lake", meaning "a lake like the sea". The scenic area is located at the intersection of plain grassland and sparse forest grassland, with a total area of 240 square kilometers and a maximum depth of 13 meters. Crucian carp and Wakiya fish are abundant in the lake. The area is also dotted with extensive and broad volcanic lava plateaus, abrupt volcanic craters, volcanic cones, and lava necks, as well as volcanic ejecta such as volcanic bombs and volcanic ash, forming a natural landscape characterized by volcanic groups. There are currently 162 bird species belonging to 16 orders and 32 families discovered in the reserve, including 8 species of national first-class protected birds and 21 species of national second-class protected birds. From October to November each year, Dali Lake will welcome more than 60,000 swans, which are as white as snow and as clear as sunny, with a resounding sound and a magnificent momentum, which is breathtaking. The Gongger Grassland and the Dali Nur (Lake), the Pearl of the Grassland, complement each other, forming the most magnificent natural scenery. In December 1997, the State Council approved the establishment of a national-level nature reserve here, which enabled this magnificent scenery to be better protected.
