Introduction

Mingyong Glacier is one of the four largest glaciers of Meili Snow Mountain, and also the longest and largest one, extending down from an altitude of 6,740 meters in an arched shape to the distant forest area with a total length of 11.7 kilometers. With the global climate warming and an increasing number of tourists, Mingyong Glacier is facing a retreat speed of five to six hundred meters every year. The hiking route of this glacier is of primary difficulty, with a total distance of about eight kilometers from the scenic gate to the Taizigong Temple. The journey is relatively flat, similar to the usual outdoor mountaineering, just adapting to the higher altitude. In addition, tourists can also choose to hike up the mountain or ride horses, but they need to hire horses at the entrance of the scenic area and should not look for horses on the way.
