Introduction

The Wu Gorge stretches for 46 kilometers, starting from the Danning River in the east of Wushan County and ending at Guandukou in Badong County. It is renowned for its beautiful scenery. There are twelve peaks on the south bank and the north bank of the gorge, with the Shennv Peak being the steepest. Along the banks of the Wu Gorge, there are numerous streams, including the Shennv Creek, the Shamuran Creek, the Bianyu Creek, the Xiaoxi River, and the Lianzi Creek. These scenic spots are a must-visit for tourists. In addition, visitors can also explore many historical sites and relics, such as the Lugou Ancient Cave, the Dayu Inscription Platform, the Shennv Temple ruins, and the Kongming Stone Tablet. However, due to the impoundment of the Three Gorges Dam, many of the ancient sites and relics on the cliffs and precipices of the Wu Gorge, such as the Kuifu Path and the inscriptions of "Chu-Shu Divide", have either completely or partially submerged into the river, which is a great pity.
