Introduction

Chang Lake is located at the end of Zecha Wagu, with an "S"-shaped distribution. Opposite the lake is a glacier landscape surrounded by mountains, with lush trees adding some vitality to the surroundings. Chang Lake is formed by the convergence of snowmelt from high mountains. It has no outlet, but has never dried up or overflowed. Therefore, Tibetans regard it as a "perfectly sealed" precious gourd. Chang Lake is ink-blue in color, surrounded by mountains, and is the highest, widest, and deepest lake in Jiuzhaigou. In early autumn, it begins to be covered with a white armor of snow and ice. In the cold winter, the ice on Chang Lake can even support the passage of heavy vehicles. Chang Lake is also the mother of all lakes in Jiuzhaigou, because it has no river outlets and can only rely on evaporation and underground rivers to discharge water. These waterways are also important sources of supply for other lakes.
