Introduction

From the 10th century to the early 17th century, the Guge Kingdom rose in Western Tibet, clinging to Buddhist beliefs, defending their territory, and playing an important role in the history of Tibet. However, a war in 1630 led to the collapse of the Guge Kingdom. In the subsequent period of chaos, Tibet entered a state of fragmentation and separatism. The profound influence of the 700-year history of Guge has left behind outstanding religious art works such as murals, sculptures, and stone carvings. Guge has become a marvel, attracting countless explorers, scholars, artists, and journalists to investigate, explore, and excavate.
