Introduction

Dajue Temple was first built in the Liao Dynasty and is known for its clear spring, ancient trees, and elegant environment. The magnolia flowers of Dajue Temple, along with the lilac flowers of Fayuan Temple and the peony flowers of Chongxiao Temple, are known as the three major flower temples in Beijing. The temple is located west and faces east, with the main gate facing the direction where the sun rises, reflecting the architectural pattern of the Khitan people worshiping the sun during the Liao Dynasty. The temple is built according to the mountain terrain and consists mainly of the central temple buildings, the southern palace, and the northern monk's quarters. The door plaque with the inscription "Observing Motion and Stillness" on the third main hall, the Hall of Buddha of Infinite Life, was written by Emperor Qianlong and has significant historical value.
