Introduction

Naracoorte Caves, located in the Limestone Coast in southeastern South Australia near the town of Naracoorte, gained its name from the area. It was officially recognized as a World Heritage site in 1994 due to its rich fossil deposits. The park encompasses a 6-square-kilometer plant conservation area and 26 caves within a 3-square-kilometer World Heritage area. The park offers excellent tourist facilities, including camping areas, caravan parking, bunkhouses for group accommodations, picnic areas, and a cafeteria. Visitors can choose from various activities, including guided tours of limestone caves and fossil cave exploration led by professional guides. Through monitors, visitors can also catch a glimpse of the bat ecology deep within the otherwise inaccessible caves. Additionally, there are self-guided cave explorations and a variety of other activities to choose from.
