Introduction

Cape Coast Castle is a castle located on the coast of Ghana, which is now listed as a world cultural heritage site. Initially, the castle was built by the Swedish Africa Company in 1653, primarily for trade. The original version was made of wood, but after multiple expansions and reconstructions, the castle gradually became a robust stone structure. In 1894 control of the castle was transferred to the Germans, and in 1664 the British took the castle and became its final owner.
