Introduction
In 1903, to celebrate the Seychelles becoming a British crown colony instead of French jurisdiction under Mauritius, Seychelles created a replica of the "Little Ben" clock tower that stands about 5 meters tall. This clock has been a central landmark of the Seychelles capital of Victoria, even with many modern buildings around it, and has largely remained the same.
Originally intended to chime the hours, the clock unfortunately never worked properly and frequently broke down until it was replaced by a modern quartz clock in 1999. The clock's original maker, Gillett and Johnson, was responsible for the upgrade and funds were raised by the Seychellois people. Though it has never successfully told time, it remains a precious cultural heritage for the people of Seychelles. Address Independence Ave, Victoria, Mahé Island, Seychelles
