Introduction
The Yunjishan Nature Reserve is located in Guangdong Province, with a total area of approximately 87 square kilometers. It is a mountainous scenic tourist area that blends natural reserves and landscapes. There are more than ten peaks above 1,000 meters, with the main peak at an altitude of about 1,438 meters, which is the source of the Xinfeng River in the Pearl River Delta region. The mountain shape resembles an ancient person's hair bun, hence the name "Yunjishan", with clouds and mist surrounding it. The nature reserve is located in the subtropical climate zone, mainly protecting evergreen broad-leaved forests and rare flora and fauna, and is one of the comprehensive nature reserves in Guangdong Province. The plant and animal species here are extremely diverse, including evergreen broad-leaved forests, mixed needle-leaved and broad-leaved forests, bamboo forests, mountain top shrubs, and more. Yunjishan has also planted nationally protected rare tree species, such as the tricuspid fir, the oak-leaved hickory, and the Chinese sclerostegia, as well as secondary protected tree species including the goosefoot, the Chinese water fir, the Eucommia, the Coptis chinensis, the Chinese cinnamon, the kiwifruit, and various maple and small-fruit horse chestnut communities, and narrow-leaved pine and oak-cherry birch. The wildlife is also very rich, including national first-class protected animals such as clouded leopards, golden cats, pythons, small clawed otters, and lady fish, as well as sambar deer, water deer, crowned deer, small and large civet cats, pangolins, wild boars, yellow martens, tree chickens, shrikes, leopards, black musk deer, pythons, white-lipped deer, musk deer, water fir, hickory, Morinda officinalis, and tricuspid fir.
