The clarity of spring water

Introduction

The north foothills of Ming Sha Shan, located 5 km south of Dunhuang City, are famous worldwide for its marvelous landscape of "mountains and springs coexisting, sand and water coexisting". Yueyaquan, named for its spring shape resembling a new moon, was formerly known as "Shajing" or "Yaoyuan". Despite being surrounded by Ming Sha Shan on all sides, the spring water is still clear to the bottom, does not overflow during long rainy periods, and does not dry up during long droughts, unaffected by the shifting sands.
