Introduction

This pass, built in 1381, is located at the eastern starting point of the Great Wall and serves as the boundary between the interior and exterior of the pass. It was an important barrier for Beijing during the Ming Dynasty. The pass consists of several parts, such as the pass city, urn city, Luo city, Yi city, lookout city and beacon tower, forming a complete and tight military defense system. It can be said that this strong pass is easy to defend and difficult to attack. Due to its unique construction, it stands out among the numerous dangerous passes of the Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty and is known as "the unique lock of the two capitals and the first pass of the ten thousand li Great Wall".
