Introduction

Located on the Tropic of Cancer, the Emerald Mountain is one of the Four Famous Mountains in China, together with Danxia Mountain, Luofu Mountain and Xiqiao Mountain in Guangdong Province. Since the Tang Dynasty, it has been a famous Buddhist holy land, divided into three major scenic areas: Tianxi, Tianhu, and Yunxi. Must-visit attractions include Baoding Garden, Qingyun Temple, Feishuitan and Butterfly Valley. Feishuitan boasts spectacular flowing springs and waterfalls, which once attracted Sun Yat-sen and Song Qingling to visit and had the six characters "Sun Yat-sen Swimming Place" inscribed on the cliff by Song Qingling. Butterfly Valley is another scenic spot that requires purchasing a separate ticket. The primitive forest has a rich variety of vegetation, and the valley is full of babbling brooks and numerous waterfalls, including Renzi Waterfall and White Elephant Waterfall, which are worth visiting.
