Introduction

Chaotian Palace was built against the mountain. It is said that King Fu Chai of Wu established a foundry here to manufacture weapons. It is now the location of Nanjing Museum. On Yeshan Mountain, where Chaotian Palace is now located, there was once one of the earliest cities in Nanjing, called Yecheng. Since then, Chaotian Palace has served as a temple, Taoist temple, or academy throughout different dynasties.
