Introduction

Established during the Tang Dynasty (881-884), the Wu Xing Zheng Zhen Zen Temple was originally named by the Wu Yue Qian King Miao as "Wu Xing Zheng Zhen Zen Temple". During the Jia Tai period of the Song Dynasty, it was temporarily changed to "Miao Jue Temple". During the Southern Song Dynasty, Emperor Ning Zong (1195-1224) officially designated the highest level of Zen temples in the country as "Five Mountains and Ten Monasteries", with Wan Shou Zen Temple as the second monastery.
