The town has a long history, with numerous ancient sites and relics, such as the Cihu site, Baziqiao site, Wuxing site, and Tangshan site. Archaeological evidence indicates that human activities in Cicheng can be traced back more than 6000 years ago. Cicheng is proud of four "firsts": the top scholar, with 519 people passing the imperial examination and producing 3 Zhuangyuan (the top scorer), 1 Bangyan (the second highest scorer), and 3 Tanhua (the third highest scorer); the top filial child, with more than 30 children (including females) honored by successive emperors for their filial piety, among whom Dong An of the Han Dynasty and Zhang Wuzhe of the Tang Dynasty are particularly famous; and the largest number of schools, from the De Run Academy established in the Three Kingdoms period to the Yu Lake Academy in the Ming Dynasty, and now Cihu High School, education has always been a fundamental undertaking in Cicheng, cultivating a large number of talented individuals in fields such as painting, writing, finance, industry, and academia, who have spread across the country and even many countries in the world. Renowned figures from Cicheng include Tan Jiazhen, known as the "Morgan of China" for his unique contributions to genetics, Feng Jicai, a well-known writer and cultural figure, and Ying Changqi, a renowned industrialist and inventor of the "Ying Family's Chess Rules," "SYDX Electric Board Encoding," and "Large Integer Reading Method," among others.
