Introduction

Tianmen Mountain, with an altitude of 1518.6 meters, is also known as Yunmeng Mountain or Yuping Mountain. It was named after the natural wonder Tianmen Cave. In July 1992, it was approved as a national forest park. Tianmen Mountain has a rich historical and cultural heritage and is known as the "number one sacred mountain in western Hunan" and the "soul of Wuling." It is divided into four scenic areas: Tianmen Cave, Tianjie Foguo, Biye Yaotai, and Mixian Qijing. Tianmen Cave is shrouded in mist all year round, with ever-changing scenery. Sometimes, clouds and mists gush out from the cave, while at other times, rays of light shine through, creating a splendid and magical atmosphere. It is like a hidden world with infinite mysteries. Tianmen Cave not only accumulates the spiritual energy of heaven and earth for thousands of years but also becomes a sacred place for people to pray and make wishes. The ancient temple on the mountaintop, Tianmenshan Temple, once thrived with incense. Climbing the Tianmen Ladder and praying at Tianmen has become one of the ways for people to seek blessings and peace. In addition, one can also experience the magical feeling of flying in the air by riding the Tianmen Mountain Cableway, which is the world's longest high-altitude passenger ropeway.
