Phoenix Mountain
Located 60 kilometers northwest of Dandong City and 3 kilometers southeast of Fengcheng City, Phoenix Mountain is known for its beautiful scenery and is reputed as the 'Famous Mountain at the National Gate' and the 'First Mountain of the Great Wall'. In summer, Phoenix Mountain is cool and pleasant, making it a famous summer resort in eastern Liaoning. In October, the mountain is covered with red maples, making it an excellent place to enjoy the autumn foliage.
The Yalu River Broken Bridge on the Yalu River in Dandong is one of the iconic attractions of Dandong. It was built in 1911 by the Railway Bureau of the Japanese Governor-General of Korea during the colonial period. The bridge is 944.2 meters long. Between November 1950 and February 1951, U.S. military aircraft bombed the bridge multiple times during the Korean War, turning it into a broken bridge. The remaining four sections on the Chinese side still stand as historical witnesses to the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, commonly referred to as the 'Broken Bridge'.
Hushan Great Wall
The Hushan Great Wall is located 15 kilometers northeast of Dandong City, along the Yalu River. It is the easternmost end of the Ming Great Wall. It was rebuilt on its original site in 1992 and is about 1250 meters long. The Hushan plank road spans about 2 kilometers along the Great Wall and can be explored on foot. The scenic area includes many attractions such as watchtowers, the Great Wall, ancient plank roads, and the Sleeping Guanyin. There is also a Great Wall History Museum.
Yalu River Park
Located on the north side of the Yalu River Bridge in Dandong, Yalu River Park is a comprehensive public open park that integrates leisure, commerce, and tourism. The Jiangting Park and the four major cruise ship docks, which are visible but not accessible, are great places for Dandong residents to cool off and relax.
Located on the southern slope of Jinjiang Mountain in the northern part of Dandong city, about 1.8 kilometers from the Yalu River bank, it was first built in 1905 and is the largest comprehensive park in Dandong. The park is divided into five major viewing areas, including a landscape tour area, a botanical garden, a zoo, a cultural park, and a children's play area. The entire park is built along the mountain, with pavilions and towers, beautiful scenery, and is a comprehensive park integrating sightseeing, cultural and sports activities, and historical education.
