Visiting Mingsha Mountain, sand sliding and camel riding are essential experiences. On the vast desert sands, the camel caravan winds its way forward, offering a unique flavor.
Mingsha Mountain is named for its rustling sound. Here lies a pool of clear water, surrounded by sand dunes. From there, you can overlook the Crescent Lake, which resembles a crescent moon. It is the most famous scenery of Mingsha Mountain.
Dunhuang Yardang National Geopark
Under the night sky, the Yardang is accompanied by howling winds that sound like roars, making it a terrifying experience, hence the name 'Ghost City'. Vegetation is scarce here, with gray-black sand and stones everywhere. The brown-yellow mounds are sculpted into various bizarre shapes by the wind and sand. The most spectacular sight is the 'West Sea Fleet', where dozens of long earthen platforms stretch for miles, arranged in parallel like a fleet sailing in a sea of sand, creating a magnificent view. The sunset at Ghost City is the most beautiful, with the afterglow of the setting sun making it extraordinarily magnificent.
After enjoying the beautiful scenery of the day, the first goal at the night market is, of course, to taste the authentic Dunhuang cuisine. Unique Dunhuang dishes such as donkey meat yellow noodles, cuoyuzi, stewed mutton, and jiangshui noodles can be found everywhere in the night market, with various barbecues being the most authentic and not to be missed. In addition, the night market offers a wide range of items from food to decorations, making it a great place to shop for souvenirs to take home.
