Offbeat Guide to Guizhou's Terraced Fields! Here you can capture the most beautiful scenery

There are many worthwhile attractions in Guizhou, but hidden among the mountains are many lesser-known terraced fields. During spring plowing and autumn harvest, the terraced fields shine like mirrors along the mountain ranges. The scenery you see here is absolutely different, and you can take beautiful photos. Come and take a look together.

Jiabang Rice Terraces

What is the most famous terrace in Guizhou? 90% of people will answer this question. Due to the undulating mountains, the largest terrace here is no more than one mu. It is hidden under the moonlight, shrouded in mist all year round, and is a unique cloud ladder in the world. Built along the mountain, it is majestic and has beautiful lines. The villages and terraces complement each other and blend with nature. Additionally, the terraces are close to the Jiacha River, with abundant rainfall throughout the year. Every morning, regardless of the season, mist drifts from the river. These beautiful terraces, along with the stilted houses of the Miao people beside them, are shrouded in mist. From a distance, the faintly visible stilted houses appear hazy and ethereal, making one feel as if they are in a dreamlike realm.

Tang'an Rice Terraces

Tang'an Rice Terraces do not have much formality or grandeur, and the maintenance is not particularly meticulous. The terraces are barren, cultivated year after year by the Dong people. Nestled deep in the mountains of southeastern Guizhou, the area is not large and sees few tourists. It quietly absorbs the essence of nature, maintaining its simple and primitive appearance for centuries.
Baoyuan Terraces are located 30 kilometers from Chishui City. Previously, three representative terraced fields were listed, but it is rare to find one that combines high quality and grand scale. Baoyuan Terraces are such a high-quality terraced landscape, with the entire terrace being 4 to 5 kilometers long and 0.8 to 1 kilometer wide, with each plot averaging 3 to 4 mu. It is one of the few well-aligned terraces in Guizhou. The total area of the terraces is about 1500 mu. From a distance, the endless terraces are lush and beautifully shaped. The cultivation of Baoyuan Terraces began in the Eastern Han Dynasty, formed in the late Ming Dynasty, and has a history of over 1900 years.

Gaoyao Terraces

Gaoyao Terraces are exquisite and beautiful. Although they are not as grand as Jiabang, they have long been a top spot for terrace photography in Guizhou due to their advantageous geographical location. Gaoyao Village is only 8 kilometers from Danzhai County, which is 80 kilometers from the capital of Qiandongnan, Kaili, and 190 kilometers from the provincial capital of Guizhou, Guiyang. On the Xiangrong Expressway, you can directly enjoy the beautiful terrace scenery while driving. You can also visit Xijiang Miao Village after passing through Kaili.

Gaopo Terraces

In recent years, Gaopo has become increasingly popular. When visiting Guiyang, 60% of people choose to go to Gaopo for photography. Why? Because it is not far away. Starting from Guiyang, passing through Huaxi, Qingyan, and Qiantao to Gaopo, the distance is only 48 kilometers, ascending from an altitude of 1000 meters to 1500 meters. Gaopo Township has a unique terrain, just like its name suggests. The entire village is scattered on a gradually rising hillside, with many platforms rising in the valleys, surrounded by deep gorges. It is a typical karst landscape, distinctly different from most of the terraced landscapes in Guizhou. You can head straight to the beautiful terraces to enjoy the scenery, and on the way to Kaili and Xijiang Miao Village, you can also visit.
