Gulangyu Street
Gulangyu, known as the 'heart' of Xiamen, is a symbol of the city. In 2017, this small island, separated from Xiamen's urban area by the sea, was designated as China's 52nd 'World Cultural Heritage'. The exquisite Western-style houses, with their sense of age, blend seamlessly with nature. Walking through them, one can perfectly experience a refreshing and delightful journey back in time.
Xiamen University is built by the sea, and its geographical environment of being surrounded by mountains and water has earned it the reputation of 'the most beautiful campus in China.' The meticulously trimmed campus greenery and the blend of Chinese and Western architecture catch the eye, making it an ideal campus for visitors to stroll around and savor the top-tier Chinese university. The Furong Lake, located at the center of the campus, is a landmark of Xiamen University. The square on the lake and the Song'en Building opposite it make for a perfect photo spot.
Located within Xiamen University, Furong Tunnel is one of the most distinctive attractions of the university. Many students from Xiamen University have left their artworks on the walls of the tunnel. This photo captures stories and moments of youth, highlighting the creativity of youth while also commemorating it.
A dozen years ago, there was a dilapidated small fishing village called Zeng Cuo An (Cuo, fourth tone). Due to the cheap rent, it attracted a large number of young artists to come and run businesses. Today, it has become a gathering place for hipsters, with food, cafes, and artistic souvenirs similar to Gulangyu. Its convenient transportation attracts a large number of tourists.
Located next to Xiamen University, Nanputuo Temple is shaped into two distinctly different atmospheres. With a history of over 600 years, it has become the most popular Buddhist temple in Xiamen and enjoys a good reputation among temples across the country. Entry to the temple is free, and each visitor can receive free incense.
In Xiamen, Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street is the busiest commercial street and its commercial center. The well-preserved modern arcade buildings make Zhongshan Road unique. Even in continuous drizzle, it does not hinder you from enjoying the fun of shopping.
Huandao Road
Located in the southwest of Xiamen, Huandao Road is close to Xiamen University and Gulangyu Island. The best route is Huannan Road, which is 7 kilometers long and takes about 30 minutes to cycle. This section connects Yanwu Bridge Viewing Platform in the west and Huangcuo Beach in the east. The route is almost entirely along the sea, allowing visitors to walk and stop at their leisure, enjoying the sea view and the pleasure of cycling by the seaside.
Xiamen University Baicheng Beach
Located near Xiamen University, Baicheng Beach is just across the street from the university and is a must-visit seaside beach for most tourists coming to Xiamen. The beach area is vast, and although the water quality is not as clean as Guanyin Mountain, it is a popular area for sea viewing near the city. From here, you can also see the Xiamen Twin Towers at a glance, making it a great spot for taking memorable photos.
